Job Description

Position Overview:

Our client, a reputable freight forwarder, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team in la. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, generating financial reports, and ensuring smooth financial operations. If you have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and experience working with financial software, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record Financial Transactions: Accurately track all income, expenses, and financial activities using accounting software. Provide support with billing processes as needed.
  • Maintain General Ledger: Reconcile accounts and address discrepancies to ensure the general ledger is accurate.
  • Prepare Financial Statements: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee invoicing, payments, and overdue accounts, while fostering strong relationships with vendors and clients.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements against internal records to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Monitor Budgets: Assist in tracking budgets, identifying any variances, and providing recommendations for adjustments.
  • Ensure Compliance and Audit Support: Adhere to financial regulations and assist with internal or external audits.
  • Manage Expenses: Monitor company expenses and suggest cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate on Tax Preparation: Work closely with accountants to prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with vendors, staff, and clients.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Certification as a bookkeeper or accounting technician (e.g., CPB or AAT).
  • Experience in the shipping and logistics industry.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple accounts and projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and using formulas.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Additional Earnings: Opportunities for performance bonuses linked to financial accuracy and meeting deadlines.
