Role Description

This is a full-time (non-certified) position for a Correctional Security Officer with many vacancies throughout the State of Oklahoma. The Correctional Officer will be responsible for maintaining security and safety within the correctional facility. Daily tasks include supervising inmates, conducting security checks, enforcing rules and regulations, and responding to emergencies. The Officer will also be involved in escorting inmates within and outside the facility, overseeing inmate activities, and participating in training programs for continuous skill enhancement.

After graduation, applicants will be eligible to receive a bonus incentive.

  • $2,000 – Applicants assigned to Allen Gamble Correctional Center (Holdenville, Oklahoma) or Dick Conner Correctional Center (Hominy, Oklahoma)

  • $1,000 – Applicants assigned to Great Plains Correctional Center (Hinton, Oklahoma), James Crabtree Correctional Center (Helena, Oklahoma), Lexington Assessment and Reception Center (Lexington, Oklahoma), Mack Alford Correctional Center (Stringtown, Oklahoma), Mabel Bassett Correctional Center (McLoud, Oklahoma), or Oklahoma State Penitentiary (McAlester, Oklahoma).

Applicants will work at their selected facility with a Field Training Officer until the academy begins.

Academy Start Date: July 28, 2025

Qualifications

  • Physical Security skills
  • Valid state drivers license at time of appointment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Experience in correctional environments is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related field preferred
