Director of Business Development – Federal – Public Safety

This organization is seeking a highly strategic and results-driven executive to spearhead business development initiatives. This role will focus on expanding the adoption of advanced situational awareness, intelligence, and reconnaissance solutions. The selected candidate will drive engagement, cultivate high-level relationships, and position the organization as a leader in mission-critical technology solutions.

Focus:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive federal sales strategy focused on public safety, national security, emergency response, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Identify and capitalize on revenue-generating opportunities within government organizations such as DHS, DOD, FEMA, DOJ, and other public safety agencies.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with senior decision-makers, procurement officers, and operational leaders in federal agencies.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor, offering tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of public safety organizations.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing federal sales team, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives.
  • Work closely with product management, marketing, and technical teams to refine solutions and enhance market penetration.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with complementary technology providers and government contractors to enhance solution offerings.
  • Identify joint ventures, teaming agreements, and cooperative opportunities within the federal sector.
  • Monitor federal procurement trends and provide strategic insights to drive business positioning.

  • Offer input to product development teams based on emerging needs in the public safety space.
  • Lead the response process for federal solicitations, including RFPs, RFQs, and other procurement vehicles.
  • Navigate and secure placements within government procurement frameworks, such as GSA schedules, IDIQs, and BPAs.
  • Negotiate contracts that align with both client requirements and corporate objectives.
  • Represent the company at key federal conferences, industry events, and forums to enhance visibility and credibility.
  • Advocate for the company’s technological solutions within government circles and trade associations.

Skill Set:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or certifications in government contracting, business, or related fields are a plus.
  • Prior military, law enforcement, or government service experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with situational awareness, reconnaissance, or intelligence-driven technology solutions.
  • Background in advanced video, communications, or surveillance technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in business development or sales leadership within the federal government sector, specifically within public safety, defense, or intelligence.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal procurement processes, contracting methodologies, and acquisition vehicles.
  • Established relationships with key agencies such as DHS, DOJ, FEMA, DOD, and other relevant entities.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing business development teams and executing large-scale sales strategies.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
