BHE GT&S JOB DESCRIPTION BHE GT&S has an exciting summer internship opportunity for a rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering student within our Maintenance Department at our Cove Point facility located in Lusby, MD.
RESPONSIBILITIES We are seeking a highly motivated rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior majoring in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Industrial Design or Engineering student to work at our Cove Point facility for the summer of 2025.
The successful candidate will:
- Support field work involving the inspection, testing, service, repair, configuration, calibration, and installation of automated control systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain graphics for the DeltaV Live and/or Cove Point PI Vision System.
- Review and update cove point control system network diagrams.
- Assist with the troubleshooting and reconfiguration of network devices including switches, routers and firewalls.
- Evaluate, update and configure computer operating systems to comply with TSA cybersecurity vulnerability requirements.
- Assist in the installation configuration and management of cove point cybersecurity reporting and monitoring applications such as TripWire, Lansweeper, BigFix.
- Participate in training on environmental safety, operations and security procedures.
- Perform all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.
- Develop and submit drawings and configuration changes made on the DCS and/or field instrumentation.
- Exhibit strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel Analytical and deductive reasoning skills, oral and written communication skills, technical writing skills, instrumentation skills, and mathematical skills.
- Troubleshoot and solve equipment or process problems.
- Conduct site inspections or walk downs, including working at heights.

Individuals must have a desire to learn and produce as part of a safety conscious workplace. An independent source of transportation for this summer 2024 internship is needed as there is limited public transportation options in the area.
Your summer internship will be a minimum of 8 weeks on site (June 2 - July 25). Please note: the internship could be extended for up to 11 weeks considering your summer schedule and the needs of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualified candidates should have high attention to details.
- Candidates should be self-directed.
- Candidates should be skillful in taking initiative, customer services, judgement, and innovation.
- Ability to speak persuasively and develop rapport.
- Ability to write and develop presentations.
- Proficient in computer skills.
- Ability to plan and organize work.
Education Must be a full-time student attending a 4-year university majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
Student must be a rising sophomore, junior or rising senior prior to summer of 2025.
Student must have a GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred).
