Position Overview:

Role : Programmer 1 Mainframe Support
Type : Contract
Schedule : Monday to Friday (35 hours/week)
Work Arrangement : Remote (may include occasional on-site/hybrid requirements)
Duration : March 2025 November 2026 (extendable)

We seek a skilled Mainframe Support Consultant to join a dynamic team supporting critical applications for a major public-sector project. If you are passionate about solving complex technical challenges, enhancing legacy systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, this role is for you!

Responsibilities

Analyze, prioritize, and enhance existing system functionalities.
Troubleshoot, fix bugs and develop solutions to optimize system performance.
Collaborate with end users, stakeholders, and project teams to deliver enhancements.
Participate in system analysis, design, testing, and deployment processes.
Conduct user research to improve methodologies and user experience.
Develop technical documentation and ensure successful implementation of features.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of hands-on experience with Mainframe technologies
Development experience with programming languages
SQL database or relational database skills
ADABAS/NATURAL, JCL, TSO, Utilities
Strong understanding of technical database design and data processes.
Experience in full software development lifecycle (from requirements to production support).
Proficiency in creating ad-hoc reports and technical documents.
Exceptional communication skills, team player mindset, and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Skills:

Experience with COBOL, SAS, REXX, CRM, or .NET.

Knowledge of system and data mapping.
