Traffic Engineer – Roadway & Transportation Projects

📍 Newark, NJ Area | Hybrid Work Option

We are partnering with a leading engineering consultancy that's expanding its Transportation Group and is on the lookout for a skilled Traffic Engineer to support a variety of infrastructure improvement projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative, forward-thinking team working on impactful traffic and roadway solutions across municipal and state-level clients.

🚦 What You’ll Be Doing:

• Develop traffic analysis, modeling, and design plans for intersection improvements, traffic signals, corridor studies, and pedestrian safety enhancements.
• Utilize software tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM , AutoCAD Civil 3D, or MicroStation to prepare plans and reports.
• Prepare technical studies such as Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) and Traffic Signal Warrant Analyses .
• Interpret and apply MUTCD , AASHTO, and state DOT design standards.
• Support the development of construction documents and coordinate with roadway design teams.
• Assist in preparing reports, proposals, and presentations for public agencies and stakeholders.

✅ What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of traffic engineering experience (more senior candidates also encouraged to apply).
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• EIT required; PE license preferred or on track .
• Proficiency in traffic modeling and simulation tools ( Synchro, HCS, VISSIM ) and familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation .
• Solid understanding of traffic operations, safety analysis , and transportation planning principles.
• Strong communication skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
• Experience with NJDOT, PennDOT , or other state/local agency projects is a plus.
