Job Description

Position: Associate Casting Director

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid, 3 days in-office)

Podium Entertainment, a leader in audio storytelling, seeks a driven Associate Casting Director to support the ongoing growth and speed of Podium’s casting team, with a focus on our all-in contractor and re-casting processes. This role focuses on identifying exceptional new voice talent, evaluating scripts, streamlining workflows, and contributing to Podium’s reputation for high-quality audiobook productions. Collaborating closely with Casting Directors and the Casting Assistant, the Associate will be a major contributor to the seamless execution of all-in projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively scout, evaluate, cast, and recruit diverse voice talent, with a focus on our all-in production process.
  • Manage the re-cast process for all casting directors: collaboratively liaise with authors, narrators, and internal teams to articulate creative vision and casting decisions.
  • Provide guidance to narrators on an as-needed basis on studio set-up, recording specifications, and manuscript preparation.
  • Track and report data as related to the all-in casting process.
  • Contribute to improving information in the narrator database, building processes, QCing for accuracy, and maximizing accessibility for the casting directors.
  • Oversee tracking, process improvements, and quality assurance for narrator auditions, shortlists, narration-type assessments, and raw studio samples to uphold Podium’s production standards.
  • Represent Podium at industry events, building relationships with all-in contractors, and new narrators aligned with team objectives.
  • Step in to cover casting projects as needed for casting directors (e.g., holiday coverage).
  • Consistent and active participation in collaborative environments, both virtual and in-person.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in audio engineering, theater, audio production, book publishing, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in audiobook casting, engineering, or directing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of audiobook engineering, recording specifications, and studio setups.
  • Proficient in tools like Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Slack, and Airtable.
  • Familiar with narration performance metrics and genre-specific requirements.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Committed to confidentiality and discretion.
  • A positive communicator who fosters collaboration and team success.
