Job Description
The pharmacy technician assists with the compounding of sterile preparations in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures, assembly of patient supplies and equipment, and other tasks under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The pharmacy technician assists with the maintenance and cleaning of the pharmacy work areas as described in the Apollo References Manual and assists with quality control and performance improvement activities as directed by the franchised pharmacy manager. Responsibilities include:
Follows established procedures and policies to Prepare, package, and distribute medications prescribed by physicians.
Follows established procedures and policies to compound and dispense IV sterile products using aseptic technique and following USP 797 & 800 guidelines
Ensures anteroom, clean room, compounding area, and related equipment are cleaned, sanitized and maintained in compliance with state regulations pharmacy policies and procedures.
Continually maintains pharmacy area to ensure a clean, well-stocked condition.
Maintains “staging” area to set up drug and supply orders for preparation by staff in the clean room.
Accurately follow dispensing, processing and shipping processes on a day-to-day basis.
Assists in calling and scheduling patient's order, insurance verification as well as preparing work orders.
Accurately maintains all legally required records.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Follows and assists in inventory control procedures.
Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Must haves:
~ Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification by exam from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCE) or the National Healthcare Association (ExCPT).
~ Must have current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
~1-3 years of experience as a CPhT
Plus:
Home infusion experience
IV sterile compounding certification (must obtain within 3 months of employment, will reimburse once passed)
Previous experience with CPR+ or Caretend software
Compensation: $20 to $26 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
