Job Description

Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. At Charter One we pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of charter school operations, academics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

American Leadership Academy - Lexington is now accepting applications for an English Teacher (6-12) for the 2025-2026 academic year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that includes literature, writing, grammar, and language skills.
  • Create detailed lesson plans that align with state and national standards and address various learning styles.
  • Incorporate a variety of texts and media, including novels, poetry, drama, and digital resources.
  • Teach English classes effectively, using a range of instructional methods such as lectures, discussions, group work, and individual projects.
  • Facilitate engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, reading comprehension, and effective writing skills.
  • Encourage students to analyze texts, develop arguments, and express their ideas clearly.
  • Develop and administer a variety of assessments, including tests, essays, presentations, and projects, to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments to help students improve.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
  • Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and student growth.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and maintain a productive learning atmosphere.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with varying skill levels and special educational needs.
  • Provide additional support and resources to students who need extra help with reading, writing, or language skills.
  • Promote a love of literature and language by selecting engaging and relevant texts and materials.
  • Encourage student participation in discussions, debates, and creative writing exercises.
  • Inspire students to explore their own interests in literature and develop their own writing styles.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on educational practices, literary trends, and teaching technologies.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and other training opportunities to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and any concerns.
  • Organize and conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss student achievements, challenges, and development.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, assignments, and feedback to students.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass applicable background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field
  • South Carolina Teaching Certificate
