Smithville Communications is looking for a
Telecom Technician to join our
Jasper, Indiana team. Telecom technicians provide outstanding customer service while installing and maintaining internet and phone service.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Provide excellent customer experience while installing and maintaining Smithville services for residential and business environments
- Assist in wiring new and existing homes and perform other physical activities in varying weather elements
- Perform aerial work by safely utilizing ladders and bucket trucks
- Collaborate with the Telecom Team and multiple departments to facilitate customer satisfaction
- Ability to work appropriately with and protect sensitive information
- Work both independently and with co-workers toward the goals of the company
- Use of company vehicle during business hours
- Ability to utilize a laptop for work orders, internal communication (chat, email etc.), timecard entry, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS - High School Diploma or equivalent required; related advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Previous experience with installation and repair of Fiber, Cable, and Network CAT5 cabling. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of general building construction is a plus
- Working knowledge of structured cabling
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Approximately 25% of the time work is completed indoors in a climate controlled office environment (office, meeting room, or similar), 25% of the time indoors in a non-temperature controlled environment (garage, warehouse, shed, or similar), 25% of the time outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions, and 25% of the time outdoors in an enclosed vehicle or temporary shelter
- Exposure to air contamination, vibration (operating jackhammer, impact wrench, or similar), improperly illuminated or awkward and confining work space (such as attics or crawl spaces), and working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists (ladder, roof-top, bucket trucks, scaffolding, or similar)
- Depth and color vision required Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, climb and carry ladders
- Manual dexterity, and mobility to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist and climb
